Album: Sissala Goddess 2018
Wiyaala says: Wiisi is a traditional African folk song, originally composed by my visually impaired uncle in Funsi. The Catholic church in the village made the song a feature of their religious services. Here, I have reclaimed it and added more to original melody and lyrics. The word "Wiisi" means both the "Sun" and "God" in the Sissala language and in this context suggests that all religions, Catholic, Muslim and traditional African can co-exist peacefully.
LYRICS
Dan laua wiisi wia Bie tidigi
(I accept God’s will, with all my heart)
Dan sunghi atina be tipulong
(and ask sincerely)
Ang-langa nuodigi be nulaa
(on behalf of people like me)
Dos tiema wibulong n-aacheree
(whatever he bestows upon us we accept)
Ooooh, Oooh, Oooh, Ooooh
Dos tiema fieluu n-aacheree
(when he gives us peace, we accept)
Dos tiema mebol n-aacheree
(when he gives us life, we accept)
Dos yengkoo maachie vomii kinka bulong
(that which he refuses to give you or me)
Uori jing babolung, Uori jing babolung
(he knows why, he knows all)
Ooooh, Oooh, Oooh, Ooooh
Not too much, not too little
Not too much, not too little
Make the most of what you
Not too much, not too little
You will get what you deserve
Not too much, not too little
Just enough
Oo yen ko tia kin ka bulonn
(Whatever destiny gives)
Dann laa rer
(you must accept)
